urisdan
The traveling elven kingdom of Urisdan moves along a steady path of migration through the Six Woods, just as it has for centuries untold. Comprised of several tribes of elves who can trace their lineage back through centuries before the Shattering Era, Urisdan retains an ancient feel to a time when the elves were bonded even closer to the land and could speak to the animals and trees as they were more a part of nature than of civilization. Wherever Urisdan pauses, a city of tents and magically grown trees sprawls across the forest in camps and they do all of this in accordance with the chieftains of each tribe and the shamans that commune with the spirits of the land and the elven ancestors. Life within Urisdan tends to be more savage than in the other communities of the Six Woods with harsh punishments and stringent expectations. The chieftains rule over their tribes with an iron fist and they are wary of outsiders, but this is less about cultural superiority and more about a zealous protection of the elven culture that has survived in the wake of the Shattering Era. With the other three elven provinces having been swallowed up in the Middlewood and divided by the sudden appearance of a mountain range, the Unreachable Peaks, Urisdan’s leaders have sworn to preserve the elven people and their lore at whatever the cost.
Ursidan is marked by a series of nine great cumsah trees, each marking the territory of a different wood or wild elven tribes. Each time the city settles in one of its designated locations on their route through the Six Woods, these trees are magically grown into the ground anew by the power of the Earth Spire, a magical tree artifact that can grow to tower over the surrounding foliage or shrink down to a new growth that can be safely transported by the shamans of Ursidan as they travel. The Earth Spire has the power to influence the land and the spirits of the surrounding area for miles and can even be used to grow food in a fraction of the time it would otherwise take. Urisdan’s trek through the Six Woods takes a total of 3 years, which is little time to an elf, and along the way, the elven migrations brings the city to many sites of the ancient elven kingdom. These elven ruins are places of power, and the people of Urisdan visit them as much to guard and preserve them as to draw upon their ancient might.
