History: One of the three lost Elder Gods, Titania has been absent from Aeinia for millennia by decree of the Forgotten Gods, the Forces. In the time of Unison, the goddess claimed dominion over the arcane magic that exists in harmony with nature, particularly the magic inherent in living creatures. When Titania imbued her children, the fey, with living magic and immortality she violated the cycle of reincarnation decreed by the Forces and sewed jealous contention between the worldly races. The fey grew capricious and arrogant, reflections of Titania’s own pride, and this was when the Forgotten Gods acted.

Titania was far too powerful to confront directly, so her sisters (presumably Gatropsis and Segrund) lured her onto a twisted, obscure, ever-changing path of shadows that spanned multiple planes, her senses being dulled and her perceptions clouded with every step. Titania had been led into the River Styx itself, and she lost the bond to Aeinia’s primal power that made her one of the Forces. When the Flux ravaged the world of Aeinia, it also touched the surrounding planes. Titania and the River Styx were temporarily removed from the time stream, allowing her the lucidity necessary to step off of the dark road and into the planes. Titania’s return to her astral realm of Ladinion was heralded by a wild storm of rain and lightning and the entire realm of faerie is said to have burst into joyous song upon her arrival. There Titania took back her crown from her consort, Corellon Larethian, and resumed her rightful place as the High Queen of All Fey.

Titania is a mysterious and ancient power. She wandered the planes in an ethereal time when good and evil, law and chaos were not such easily defined concepts, and her morality is somewhat alien by the standards of many gods. She is compassionate and loving with the fey races and those of the divine Seelie Court, but like the storms over which she has dominion, her anger is, at times, easily roused and capable of great destruction. While many claim that the Mother of All Fey has authority over the archfey and the Feywild itself, which she is said to have created, she has not moved to disrupt the Outer Court, the rebel archfey who make their home closest to Aeinia across the borders in the Feywild. If Titania has any intention of bringing her wayward children to heel, she has not shown it yet. For now, she seems content to revel in her newfound freedom and ensure that the world knows of her return.

Storm Sisters: Titania’s priestesses, the Storm Sisters, are pixie and other fey female druid/sorcerer priests who wield silver spears and militantly protect the fey and fey lands from threats both foreign and domestic. Though they work towards good aims and noble causes, the faithful of Titania are fast garnering a reputation for being relentless, prideful, and aggressive. They take the protection of the forests with deadly seriousness, and seem to reflect their goddess’s belief that the depredations of the drow and the dragons have left much to put right. The fairy Storm Sisters all carry a talisman that allows them to take the form of elves when dealing with non-fey or those who would underestimate them due to their stature. Within the Elven Lands, a Storm Sister’s word is considered law, and they are trained to use this authority wisely and with absolute unyielding demand.

Titania’s priestess well recognize their goddess’s responsibility for caring for those who are gifted with magic by birth or bloodline, and they have been known to show great tenderness to young sorcerers and other such gifted individuals for whom magic is nature and not choice. All Storm Sisters are trained in teaching others how to access and control these innate gifts. Indeed, may Storm Sisters do not begin their service to the Queen of the Fairies with magic inborn but rather acquire a seed of power as they take their vows to the Storm Queen. This often happens during the Quickening, a ritual in the temple of the Archenwood within the Elven Lands where an initiate seeks a vision from the goddess that will carry her away to her first great work for her deity. The initiate enters the waters of the lake touching the temple, which are said to be an extension of the waters of the Feywild itself, and she is struck by a bolt of lightning that both infuse her with magic and grant a vision of where the priestess is t begin her first quest for the goddess. From there, many Storm Sister step into the water and disappear carried away by the will of Titania, returning to the temple of the Archenwood when their task is complete.

Swanmays: Ages ago, Titania graced a knight who selflessly sacrificed her life for a fairy kingdom with immortality and a magical charm that allowed her to turn into a swan. The Swanmay was eventually raised up as a new demipower and an order of rangers rose up in her image, gifted with the same kind of magical charm. The Swanmays travel far and wide in their quest to protect the fey lands and races, and they can be found nearly anywhere protecting the smallest fairy ring or wandering satyr to the deepest depths of long-forgotten elven ruins. The Swanmays avoid combat whenever possible and tend to follow the fey nature of hiding and remaining out of sight. If a Swanmay can prevent violence and her involvement was never even known, then so much the better, but when forced to combat, they will not hesitate to fight to the death in order to safeguard their charges.
