the middlewood
Known for ages to the elves as the “Sea of Trees” the Middlewood was the home of the provinces of the first elven empire, Lalosia, Tacosi, and Far Woh Neh. The whole of the Eastlands seemed to be a verdant paradise to the elves whose borders covered most of the known continent. There the elven provinces thrived and languished in wealth and peace save for their conflicts with one another and the dark elves. Although the Forgotten Gods entrusted the continent known to the Easter Pinnacle to the fey races and the Western Pinnacle to the dragons, the elves grew bored and migrated across the seas to establish new kingdoms and came to know the new western lands, even going so far as the establish a new capitol in Green Lay.
While the number of elves in the provinces greatly decreased during the Western Migration, their prosperity came to an end during the Shattering Era, where the reality-warping chaos of that time swept across the Middlewood wiping out the elven kingdom forever. The magical chaos that tore across the land even raised a new mountain range separating the province of Far Woh Neh forever from the rest of the Sea of Trees. To this day, the Middlewood is still home to elven ruins that survived, a testament to the expansive kingdom that was, and much of the Middlewood has again become a mystery, much of it still unmapped and unknown even to the elves. When the Wasting killed so many of the elves who survived to remember the ancient kingdom, much of the history and lore of the ancient empire was lost, but many say that the dead within the Middlewood do not all rest easy.
