bridine tey
The City of the Bridge, Bridine Tey, was named after one of the wonders of the world, a magical bridge constructed by elven high magic with sentience and mysterious powers of healing and protection. During the Imperial War, the Elven Lands were protected by rivers that served as natural barriers and also responded to elven magic. As the Jeshinese forces were reluctant to try and cross the rivers into the Elven Lands, they relied upon a narrow stretch of land where they could easily move troops over the shallow waters. The elves retook this territory several time during the course of the war until the Elven Council hit upon the idea of creating an artifact that would serve as the gate to the Elven Lands and forbid any whom they did not wish from trespassing on their land. The construction of the Path of Miracles took place in a single day, but it cost the lives of several of the wizards and witches who fed their very life force into the artifact. The bridge held the power to heal the elves and their allies who crossed it and to slay any who dared come near it with baleful intentions. The Path of Miracles, the rocky cliffs, and the elven navy sealed the way to the elven lands, which is why they were the least despoiled during the Imperial War.
In the wake of the miracle creation of the gateway to the Elven Lands, a city was founded around the mighty artifact to forever honor those who sacrificed their lives to its creation, and also to keep a watchful eye on the treasure of elven magic. Because of its proximity to the edge of the elven city-states, Bridine Tey has also become populated by a large number of half-elves. For centuries, those of non-fey races were not often permitted deeper into the Six Woods, and Bridine Tey became the one access point for trade where elves and other non-elves comingled. As a result, many human and dwarven families settled in the City of the Bridge as well as people of all different backgrounds seeking the healing power of the Path of Miracles who ended of staying there, whether they received their miracle or not. The result is a thriving egalitarian culture of half-elves and other races who have turned building upon one another’s strengths into a way of life. Bridine Tey is ruled over by the Firefeather clan, a family of fractious noble avariel (winged elves) and high elves whose sons govern different areas of the city and whose bickering and petty squabbles are legendary.
